How LipoSonix^™ Removes Fat

There have been many attempts to use Ultrasound to dissolve away fat in the past.

At Absolute Aesthetics we have been waiting for a system that has sufficient power to destroy enough fat to make a significant difference.

We use LipoSonix^™ as this system has excellent clinical and scientific evidence to support its effectiveness at removing fat.

The LipoSonix^™ system uses HIFU - High Intensity Focused Ultrasound.

Ultrasound is used because it can pass through the skin without damaging it - just like the ultrasound used for scans for babies, gall-bladders etc.

In order for the Ultrasound to be safe to pass through the skin, but to destroy fat underlying the skin, the LipoSonix machine focuses the ultrasound beam.

The concentrated ultrasound destroys a small area of fat in the shape of a spindle.

By itself this would not have much effect but the LipoSonix^™ machine is able to make large numbers of these spindles very quickly.

During treatment, the LipoSonix^™ machine automatically moves the focus of the Ultrasound, killing fat cells in a row of up to 30 spindles at a time.

The LipoSonix™ machine moves along making the spindles of dead fat cells. Each time it fires, a row of 30 spindles is made.

The LipoSonix™ machine then makes another row of 30 spindles next to the first, then another row of 30 spindles and so on.

At the end of each 'shot', a square of 30 spindles long by 30 spindles deep has been destroyed.

This is approximately an area of 3cm by 3cm.

The LipoSonix™ machine is then moved and the treatment is repeated on the next section of skin until the whole area to be treated is covered.

Sometimes, if there is more fat to be removed, two layers can be treated at once - one deeper and one more superficial.

Over the next six weeks to three months, the body naturally removes the dead fat cells, resulting in the fat layer shrinking and the area slimming down.

Although results vary between people, studies have shown a reduction on average of 2.8 cm from around the waist.
